The objective of the research was to know widely intellectual capital to the interior of the University of La Guajira, headquarters Villanueva, based on its components: human capital, structural capital and relational capital. Under these parameters the study, taking into account the experience of the teachers was developed. To achieve the purposes, an experiential introspective epistemological stance was used, it emphasizes in knowing from the reality of the subject, their experiences. Thus, the study was based on the qualitative methodology, which seeks to delve into relevant aspects that allow to know how these three components of intellectual capital are evident cornerstones in the quality process of the Institution. A theoretical or intentional sample was established, the indepth interview was used with six magister teachers and the field journal; the information is structured through the application of open, axial and selective coding, represented in individual diagrams for each informant, and then in diagrams and integrating memoranda. The findings unveil the process inside the University, in which looms a rupture in intellectual capital and research processes. In it emerged categories such as: educational quality, institutional accreditation, teacher qualification, quality system, strategic planning and institutional prospective, among others. Finally, the elaboration of a theoretical construct aimed at operationalizing processes of intellectual capital is presented, which reflects the acting against the different components of this University.
