Author Guidelines

Authors should take into account the following guidelines:

  • Submitted works must be original, written in English, Spanish or Portuguese, of high quality, and about subjects related to social and human sciences.
  • Accepted works remain the permanent property of Revista Investigium IRE Magazine: Social and human sciences, which publishes in electronic, physical or Internet format (See Intellectual Property Regulations).
  • The author must assert through the originality and conflict of interest declarations, that the text is an original and unpublished work, that it has not been published in any other medium nor is it being evaluated for publication in another magazine and that all data and text taken from published documents are duly referenced, indicating the kind of article: result of research, review, reflection or other.
  • The order and participation of the authors in the published in the magazine will be a decision and responsibility of the authors and co-authors; therefore, the journal will respect and preserve the order in which the authors are included in the text submitted.

Sending and presentation of the text

Authors should send articles to the email revistainvestigaciones@unicesmag.edu.co or to the Open Journal System. The general format to be used is the following:

  • Word processor: Microsoft Word.
  • Page size: Letter (21.59 cm x 27.94 cm).
  • Source: Times New Roman, size 12 point.
  • Spacing: Single.
  • Justified text.
  • Document length: 12 to 14 pages.
  • Upper and lower margins 2.5 cm and right and left margins 3 cm.

Articles must include the following information:

  • Full title of the article in the language in which it is written.
  • Title of the project from which the research is derived (as a footnote)
  • Full name of the authors, highest university degree, institutional affiliation, ORCID (in the case that the authors do not have this, the journal will fill it out), email address, city and country. All this information should be in the footer.
  • Authors should standardize their signature by registering at https://www.iralis.org/registre-su-iralis so that they can be cited correctly and thus be distinguished from other authors with similar names and surnames. In case of difficulties, the magazine will carry out the registration process.
  • Summary that does not exceed 250 words.
  • Up to six keywords that can be found in a Thesaurus.
  • Figures in .jpg or .png formats.

The article must have a structure that meets national and international requirements, so it is recommended to take into account the following typology:

  1. Scientific and technological research article: title, summary, keywords, introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions and bibliographic reference
  2. Review article: title, summary, keywords, introduction, methodology, development of the topic, conclusions of the review and bibliographic reference (at least 50 references).
  3. Reflection article: title, summary, keywords, introduction, methodology, topic development, conclusions and bibliographic reference.
  4. Other texts: Bibliographic reviews, short articles and translations.

Citation and referencing.

Basic Instructions

Online article: Last name, initial of first name. (month and year of publication). Article title. Title of the magazine and volume in italics, pages on which the article appears. Digital object identifier (DOI). In the event that the article has not been assigned a digital object identifier (DOI), the URL should be included using “Retrieved from http://www.xx ...”

Book: includes books, encyclopedias and dictionaries

Surname, initial of first name. (year of publication). Title of the work in italics. Place of publication indicating city and country: Publisher. When the author is a corporation, the name of the government agency, association, scientific institute or others is indicated. In the event that the author and the publisher are the same, only the Author is indicated.

Book chapter: Surname, initial of first name. (year of publication). Title of the work. If the book has a named editor, use his surname and initial of first name followed by “Ed” in brackets, or, “Eds.”, If there is more than one, or if the compiler is a corportation. Title of the book in italics, pages of the book on which the chapter appears in parentheses (abbreviated “p.” por a page, and “pp.” for several pages, numbers separated by a hyphen), place: publisher. If the chapter is from an electronic version, use the DOI or if it does not have one, a URL.

Congresses and symposia

Author, A.A., & Author, B.B. (month, year). Title of the paper, work, presentation, etc. in italics. Use “In” and the Congress or Symposium name as the title. Name of the Organization, Place.

Direct or textual quotation

If the quotation consists of up to 40 words, it is presented in quotation marks within the text and at the end the last name, year of publication and the page from which it was extracted are included in parentheses.

Example:

As the author states, "These new debates about the relationship between concept and experience, between knowledge and power, between the subject and the emancipated subject, between the various ways in which interdisciplinarity can be understood" ( Gomez, 2015, p. 102).

If the quotation includes more than 40 words, they are placed in an independent block of the text, without quotes and leaving an indentation on the left side of approximately 2.54cm.

Example:

Several reasons can be argued for why teachers remain so rooted in the canonical Social Sciences such as History and Geography, no matter that the interdisciplinary perspective proposed by the curriculum has subsumed them in an overall vision. First of all, it should be noted that training received in  faculties of Education remains very disciplinary and atomized, despite the efforts made in many of them to produce graduates with more holistic and integrating visions of this area of ​​knowledge . (Gómez, 2015, p. 106).

The Magazine will take into account the percentage of self-citation so the author must make proper use of quotations.

Tables and figures

Tables and tables are referred to in the text as "Table" and have consecutive Arabic numerals according to the order of appearance. The corresponding title is written at the top of the table and the notes at the bottom.

Photographs, graphics, drawings and schemes are referred to in the text as "Figure" and are numbered consecutively according to the order of appearance. Tables and figures that have been taken from printed or electronic sources must be correctly referenced.

ETHICAL PUBLICATION POLICIES

The magazine  Investigium IRE: Ciencias Sociales y Humanas is a publication endorsed and financed by the Office of the Vice President for Research at CESMAG University, Colombia. The Magazine office is located in the offices of the Institutional Publisher, located on the second floor of the Italia Building. The Editorial Team consists of the director, a position assumed by the Vice Chancellor for Research of the Institution, the General Editor and the Associate Editor for each edition, if applicable, and the Support Manager. The Editorial Committee and the Scientific Committee will be composed of experts with a doctoral training, chosen for their career in research and for their citation index. The Editorial Committee and the Scientific Committee will each have at least 50% of the members external to the country of origin of the Journal.

According to editorial policies, all articles must be unpublished and original, so they cannot be published in any media or be evaluated in another magazine.

If the author of one of the articles wishes that his text be translated or that it be included later, partially or totally in another publication, he must have the endorsement of this Magazine. Likewise, if the magazine wishes to translate an article, it undertakes to request the permission from the appropriate sources (Author, publication or publisher).

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The article must be unpublished, it cannot be the result of a work that is reproduced totally or partially in another publication. It should not be submitted for simultaneous evaluation by another publication while it is under review until a decision is issued by the Editorial Committee of the journal.
  • The article must be sent in Microsoft Word format according to the delivery form provided.
  • The article must comply with the norms contained in the Publications Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) sixth edition.
  • The length of the articles is between twelve (12) and fourteen (14) letter size pages at single spacing, including tables, tables and figures, using the Times New Roman font size 11. Footnotes and quotes, if required, should be in Times New Roman size 10.
  • The research project from which the article is derived, the entity that finances it, and, if applicable, the research group to which it belongs, should be indicated at the foot of the title page of the article. The names of the authors, their principal degree of academic training, institutional affiliation, email, ORCID, city and country of origin should be indicated in a footnote.
  • The author should send the following completed documents together with the article: resume, originality declaration and conflict of interest declaration.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
