It was created in 2009 and is financed by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Research of Cesmag University (Pasto-Nariño-Colombia). The abbreviated title of the Magazine is: Rev. Investigium: cienc.soc.hum.

The Journal Investigium IRE: Social and Human Sciences receives articles in Spanish, English and Portuguese. All articles have a digital object identifier (DOI) that allows content to be identified and provides a permanent link to its location on the internet.

The call for submissions is open, however periodically the academic and scientific community is invited to submit manuscripts to our magazine for special editions. Such calls establish the parameters for these special editions. Articles should be sent to the email revistadeinvestigaciones@unicesmag.edu.co and uploaded in the Open Journal System. Texts submitted to the journal must be original, unpublished and must not be under evaluation with any other publication. The magazine does not publish further texts by the same author for a period of at least two years.

Purposes

  • Promote the development of knowledge through the publication of research results.
  • Reach a consistent and sustained presence of scientific production both nationally and internationally.
  • Generate a space of exchange between the scientific community for the benefit of science and humanity.
  • Contribute to the universal and open access of research results as a link for the expression and exchange of knowledge under standards of scientific quality.
  • Become an important source of consultation.

The Magazine submits all articles to anti-plagiarism software. When the latter detects total- or partial-plagiarism or self-plagiarism without a corresponding citation, the text is rejected and the author is notified.

Peer review process

Initially, the editorial team will verify that the received article meets the requirements in the authors’ guidelines. This stage of the process can take between four and eight weeks depending on the availability of reviewers. The authors are subsequently informed if the article is sent directly to peer evaluators; or if the manuscript is subject to corrections of form; or if it is definitely rejected due to non-compliance with the requirements or because strong indication of plagiarism or self-plagiarism is found in the writing.

The articles, with the approval of the editorial committee, are sent to national and international peer evaluators chosen for their research and academic experience. The review process will be carried out through the “double blind” system, that is, the authors do not know the identity of the evaluators and the evaluators do not know the identity of the authors. The reviewers have a maximum period of fifteen business days to return of the evaluation form and resume. If, after the stipulated time, the evaluation has not been received, another reviewer will be found. The decision notified to the author will be one of the following: publishable without modification, publishable with modifications of form, publishable with modifications of form and substance or not publishable. In the case of finding discrepancies between the evaluators, the manuscript will be submitted to a third evaluator, who will make a final determination. On the other hand, if one or more of the evaluators suggest changes, the author must prepare a revised version within a maximum period of ten business days, which will be verified by the editorial committee.

The Magazine is published in Spanish, it is also possible to publish articles in English and Portuguese.

Finally, the articles are incorporated into a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.

Publication Ethics and Agreement on Possible Bad Practices

The ethical policies of the Journal are governed by the Institutional Ethics regulations and take into account the standards set forth in the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and in International Standards for editors and authors published by the Committee on Publication Ethics.

Some of them are as follows:

AUTHOR

Authors should submit articles through the Open Journal System (OJS) at the following link https://investigiumire.unicesmag.edu.co and send the texts to the email address revistainvestigaciones@unicesmag.edu.co

Authors should consult the guide for authors, a publicly accessible document specifying the requirements that must be met to submit texts (scientific articles, reviews, reflections, and others such translations). These can be found at the link https://investigiumire.unicesmag.edu.co/index.php/ire/about/submissions. In the event that the author is a member of the editorial body of the journal, he will be recused from reviews and decisions about his work.

If the authors make use of material that is not their property, they must ensure they have the corresponding authorizations. For that reason, all authors must sign the originality and conflict of interest form where intellectual property is confirmed.

While the editorial team follows strict editorial processes to meet criteria of high quality, rigor and investigative relevance, the authors are responsible for the ethical suitability of the final text.

Articles are evaluated by external peers and are always reviewed by the editorial team, through anti-plagiarism software. The authors must commit themselves to take into account the suggestions, observations and evaluations of the editorial process, as well as the verification times and corrections requested by the team.

In the case that a document is not accepted for publication, the authors will receive a notification from the editor together with evaluations clarifying the reason why they are rejected.

The authors will be informed about each stage of the editorial process, and the editors and support manager will be available to resolve any concerns. Likewise, the editorial team may consult the author about difficulties or concerns that arise during the evaluation of the article.

The article is submitted by the magazine to a copy editor. If, at the discretion of the copy editor, it is necessary to make adjustments to the manuscript, it will be sent to the author for correction within three days. On receipt the summary is sent for translation and finally for laying out. The final version of the document will be verified and approved by the author. This finalizes the volume and issue number of the publication.

In addition to the above, authors are reminded that plagiarism in articles will be penalized by vetoing the author(s) for two years. Recall that plagiarism is the action by which segments of other authors' works are reproduced or paraphrased without their corresponding referencing or recognition. Plagiarism occurs when:

  • Fragments of other people's work without quotes or source reference are included or used in the work.
  • Text is copied and pasted directly from other sources without indicating that it is a textual quotation and without referencing the source.
  • Images, tables or diagrams are included without recognition of their origin.

It is appropriate to clarify that plagiarism, whether conscious or not, is a serious and prosecutable offence.

PEER REVIEW

After a first review of the article by the Editorial Team, texts are submitted for evaluation by peers outside the publishing institution and with a citation index H5 ≥ 2, following the double-blind process. Reviewers should verify that the subject of the submitted article is in their area of expertise and that there is no professional, personal, academic or moral interest that can be inferred in the review.

The evaluating peer must present an opinion that is as clear and rigorous as possible, without using offensive language, so that the Editorial Committee can make a decision on the acceptance or rejection of the article.

When the evaluations are not in agreement, or if in doubt, a third evaluator is requested to settle the discussion on the evaluation.

Documents sent to the evaluators by Revista Investigium IRE: Social and human sciences are confidential and, therefore, their review is limited to evaluative purposes. The citation of these as unpublished articles or the use of their contents before publication constitutes an inappropriate and unauthorized use.

EDITORIAL TEAM

The Editorial Team of Investigium IRE Magazine: Social and human sciences is responsible for complying with the requirements requested by different Journal Indexing Systems (SIR), databases and repositories, to achieve high quality standards.

Similarly, it is charged with rigorously monitoring the editorial process of each of the articles sent to the Journal from application until final approval for publication.
